Do Protein Shakes Work?

Do Protein Shakes Work? Or are they just a scam? If you pick up any muscle magazine, go into any gym or go on any website you will undoubtedly see a fitness professional endorsing protein shakes. The supplement trade is a multi billion dollar industry, however is this down to good advertising? Or great results? If you have read some of my earlier posts and my transformation story you will notice I put a lot down to starting to take protein shakes. This also went hand in hand with a radical change in diet and exercise programs. Some surveys show a vast majority of protein shake takers lie in the 12-18 year old demographic, which could be because of the, ‘muscles in a drink promise’. I too fell into this category, I took protein shakes on and off during my teenage years and because of poor diet and exercise they ... Read More »

Squat Technique – How to Keep your Heels down and not Fall Forward

Squat Technique – Common Problems A common problem people have when it comes to squatting is being able to keep their heels on the floor and remain in balance. It wasn’t until a buddy of mine alerted me to the fact he could not physically squat without falling over. After much deliberation and frustration on my part I decided to look into how to fix the problem. A solution my friend came up with was to just keep the heels raised off the floor, I was skeptical but he said it was advised on a forum. He managed to get good depth and remained in balance but he suffered some intense lower back pain. This is because having your heels raised off the floor increases the pressure on the lower back, hence the back pain. It’s therefore crucial you solve the problem rather than trying to work around it. To ... Read More »

Kim Kardashian Diet

Kim Kardashian Diet Exposed Seeing as I recently covered Chris Evan’s Workout I was advised to do a similar scoop on a female celebrity and I chose the Kim Kardashian diet. Why? Well for starters she often is described as one of the most, ‘curvaceous’ women on around. She works hard in her entrepreneurial ventures and also in the gym and kitchen in order to obtain a very desirable physique. Kim has often been heard and quoted saying, ‘if I want to eat something then I eat it.’ Which I believe is her trying to bring her physique into the real world. You have to take this with a pinch of salt, publicists will tell her to say what the public want her to hear. Saying a remark like this makes her much more down to earth and appealing to the public eye. She may eat that slice of cake once ... Read More »

Hypertrophy Specific Training

What is Hypertrophy Specific Training and will it work for you? The most common form of training style is the split routine, where you spend around a week working individual parts of the body. Chris Evans Workout for Captain America

Chris Evans Workout routine Exposed With the release of Captain America on the big screens it’s sparked up the question of, how did Chris Evans get so jacked? He was already pretty ripped before he was cast to play the role but he put on some serious muscle mass in quite a short period of time. If you have ever read any of the Captain America comics you will have noticed how muscly Captain America is portrayed and Chris Evans has replicated it very well. Chris Evans’ Workout consisted of a heavy split routine. For those that don’t know what a split routine is, it is when you train one body part each day of the week and then rinse and repeat. Build confidence in the Gym

Gym Confidence There is nothing that upsets me more than walking into a gym and seeing someone hunched over an exercise bike barely pedalling, seeming as if they would rather not be there. I know not everyone can have outstanding confidence especially if they have gone to the gym to tackle weight issues but it’s something that is vital to anyone’s success. A big problem with having low confidence while in the gym is that you will never push yourself to your true potential. You may even never get to use some equipment you need to because your afraid of being surrounded by athletic people. I have been there and I know what it’s like asking to use some equipment after someone who looks they eat a whole cow for breakfast, it’s quite daunting. Some of them are condescending and just plain arrogant which doesn’t help matters but you have ... Read More »

How to Improve Stamina and Endurance

How Long can you Last? The numerous innuendoes that can be thought of when talking about this topic is obscene yet I will resist as I am sure you are far more mature than I am. So Stamina and endurance what is it? It’s how long your body can exercise at either an anaerobic or aerobic pace. If you noticed, I mention two categories; aerobic (with) and anaerobic (without) oxygen, each of these have different techniques associated with improving your stamina in each of them. Before you can start to increase your stamina you need to gauge the level at which you are starting from. I recommend for this you use a heart rate monitor if you have access to one, as you need to establish an aerobic fitness zone. It is easy for me to tell you that you need to run for X amount of time at 65% ... Read More »
